Founded in 1972, The WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children) is a federal nutrition program that works to prevent and improve nutrition-related health problems by offering healthy supplemental foods, nutrition services, breastfeeding support and referrals to eligible women, infants and children under age 5.

  • All  50  U.S. States
  • 36  Indian Tribal Organizations
  • PLUS  American Samoa, District of Columbia, Guam, Commonwealth Islands of North Marianas, Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico

These 92 WIC state agencies serve over 7 million women, children and families each month through more than 47,000 authorized WIC retailers.

  • Was implemented in 1974
  • Operates in partnership with Meadville Medical Center

NW Pennsylvania WIC serves our community, providing assistance to more than 2,500 WIC participants.
